Sutherland, NE Area Guide

Located in west-central Nebraska, Sutherland is a thriving community of 1,129 people.  Sutherland was founded in 1891 and was incorporated as a village in April 1905.  Sutherland holds true to all the traditional American values of family, work, church, school, and community.  These things make up the very fabric of the Sutherland community and its citizens are very community oriented and dedicated to church and civic organizations.

History
The Village of Sutherland was incorporated in 1905.  Through the years, residents have taken pride in keeping up with the times, and looking after the welfare of neighbors and friends.  Sutherland, already of Union Pacific's "mainline" across Nebraska's plains, became an air corridor as well, for coast-to-coast airmail flights in 1924.
